Grandpa Carl is honored as an Oregon POW!

Today we attended a luncheon in honor of all the Oregon POW. James' grandfather was honored during this ceremony. I am happy that Abigail was able to attend such a great presentation. Although she is just under 5 months old the important thing is that she was there for her great grandfather. The one thing that stuck with me at this luncheon was that in today's American children would not be all that familiar with the happenings of World War II and that it takes ceremonies such as these to remind us of what people did for our freedom. As they were going through the list of POW it amazed me at the amount of time that our soldier's were imprisoned for. The longest was over 5 years and the shortest was around 1 month. It's hard to believe that something like that could happen. This was certainly a history lesson for myself. Although the food was terrible the history lesson was enlightening.
